For sale here is a San Francisco-era Winston Rod Co. bamboo rod - 8' 2/1 for a 4 or 5 weight line. Serial #8999. 3 3/4 oz. scripted and actual weight. Doug Merrick era. This rod was sold by Norm Thompson and has simpler wraps than the typical Winston and no hook keeper. The rod is in excellent condition. Blonde cane with cinnamon silks. All script remains clean and bold. Handsome bakelite winding check. Full wells grip with moderate soiling and light ridging near the top. Classic Winston aluminum/bakelite down locking reel seat. The ferrules are size 14/64 with a pleasing fit. Wonderful crisp and smooth medium-fast action. A great all-around trout rod. Includes original red bag with label and tube with label 60% remaining.
